Occam's Razor
entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem
"entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity"

The balance between keeping it simple and over simplifying the complex is the key to effective product development. The struggle for most engineers is obtaining and organizing the information required to strike this balance.

The pressure is on to complete the design before the product is defined – to release the prototype before the design is done – to create drawings before the manufacturing process is selected. In addition, there are fewer “old hands” around who know the customer’s needs, the product’s potential problem areas, and manufacturing’s capability.

There is no “key” to successful product development. However hard work, experience, and a well thought out and executed plan, will greatly improve the probability of success.

My Mission is to simplify and document the process so that it can be embraced for even the simplest project and to work with engineers so they don’t proceed without the information they need to do their job properly.
